Heron on Beach
Heron on Beach
Herons have become one of my favorite animals to create. They seem to be everywhere and I find them so stately. This heron is inspired by the many I saw from my home on the beach in Seattle. The happy little sea star represents the sea star population that is so desperately trying to hang on, but I wonder if this heron has his/her eye on it?
The quilt measures 13.0" wide x 12.25" high.
I aspire to make all of my wall quilts light enough to have the option of being hung with just command strips. This allows you to hang them without damaging walls, and easily moving them around.
All cotton fabric, mostly batiks, were used in the construction of this quilt. Cotton batting is used inside. Polyester thread was used in quilting. Lace accents have been added, representing beach foam at the edge of the waves.
