About Me
Hi, and welcome to my shop! I have been a seamstress most of my life, having been taught by my mother at a very young age. One of my earliest words was 'Agachine', my toddler version of 'sewing machine'. I would chant "agachine, agachine" as I crawled around under my Mom's sewing table while she sewed. Throughout my childhood, and well into adulthood, I made the vast majority of my clothes. But that all changed one day in the mid-1990s when I happened upon In The Beginning, a quilt supply store in Seattle's University District! One look at all that fabric and beautiful designs and I was hooked. I signed up for my first quilting class that day and have never looked back!
For more than 30 years, while I held full time jobs in tech, accounting, and leadership development, I created baby blankets as gifts for family, friends, and neighbors. I also made some larger quilts, mostly as gifts. When I retired in 2021, I began my love affair with art quilts. I am still amazed when I look at an art quilt and realize it was made entirely from fabric, and maybe some embellishment with paint and other materials. Retirement gave me the time to begin my own journey of making art quilts. Learning took time as it is all self-taught. Due to the pandemic, there were no live classes to take, so I just read, studied on my own and experimented. The themes in my quilts almost always focus on nature. I am a water baby and nothing makes me happier than being by the water, so yes, herons and orcas feature prominently in my work!
I'm always interested in new techniques and love trying them out. The successful ones find their way to my shop. My happy place is in my studio where all of my creations are made. I love sharing my work and my love of quilting with others. I hope you enjoy perusing my shop and it would be a great honor if you choose one of my creations to live in your home. I love knowing my 'babies' now live as far away as Maine and Alabama.
I do take commissions, so would be happy to chat with you about what you're looking for and see if I'm a good match. If I'm not, I might know another quilter who is!
Thanks for reading along.
